Defiance, OH - Storm Water BMP Information
The City of Defiance has recently completed construction of a new Municipal Court building adjacent to the existing City Annex building. The BMP chosen by Defiance is a combination of one bioretention area and one rain garden. The bioretention area is designed to drain the back half of the roof on the City Annex building as well as the rear parking area. The rain garden is designed to drain a small section of the yard and a small portion of the Municipal Court roof. Both of these stormwater demonstration areas feature native plants that are designed to host a variety of butterfly species. They will also serve to reduce pollutants entering the conveyance system and reduce the quantity of stormwater entering the City’s MS4 due to infiltration in these newly installed areas.
